Framewood
FRAMEWOOD
Framewood was completed in 1915 for Sterling Postley. The stately Manor house was originally designed by the architectural firm of Hoppin & Koen.
The current owner; with a passion for preservation, sought to revive and modernize the estate.
Restoring and preserving the oak paneled walls and plaster ceilings of the interior; as well as, the exterior’s brick,
limestone and half-timbered walls and slate roof, was paramount in the teams approach to the project.
Where necessary; rooms were renovated and transformed into new spaces, to better suit the owner's lifestyle.
A new family kitchen, with home office, butler's pantry and sun-soaked breakfast room was at the core of the renovation.
Subtlety in the materials used and simplicity in the arrangement of spaces result in sophisticated interiors,
commensurate with those of the original home. The bathrooms and building systems (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing) throughout the house
were upgraded so as to ensure the estate may continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.
The existing Kitchen was gut renovated and expanded within the footprint of the structure. In consideration
of the modern family living, the existing service oriented and compartmentalized kitchen was opened up to a new Breakfast Room
and Home Office. New painted millwork sits atop hand-scraped white oak floors, Carrara marble counters are paired
with a true subway tile backsplash, a variety of metal finishes are present in the light fixtures and
pot rack that adorn the ceilings. The existing Butler's Pantry was transformed with millwork, floors and light fixtures.
